Our Ajrak pillows come from a long history of tradition and craftsmanship. Handwoven in India from a silk and wool blend, Ajrak is a type of block-printed textile that has a connection to the Sufi culture in the Sundh region of India. The cloth is resist dyed using natural dyes including indigo and madder, and is usually distinguished by its colours and complex geometric and floral patterns. There are between fourteen and sixteen different stages of dyeing and printing, which take between two to three weeks to complete. The result is a soft, and detailed textile which has been crafted with extreme precision and consistency!
Designed and made in-house by Rug & Weave, right here in Canada.
